New Blog

1.28.2005
Hey Guys, I've got a new blog up. I'm now using WordPress and so far, I'm loving it. You probably noticed the change to the blog template. I did this to familiarize with the template that I know I would be using on WP.

Also, I'm now using iHostFree.com for my hosting. I only pay $25 a year and that is for the domain, e-mail, and hosting services. And the domain is mine, registered under my name.

Also, the service is excellant. It's been a long 2 weeks trying to get WP up, and they've helped me with everything. And, I'm everything. Luckily, they also are very familiar with WP.

All this, I give them an 9/10; because nothing is guaranteed.

Check it out, still beta. Check daily for new updates! loganleger.com

MacWorld 2005, thebroken, scopetech.net, and G4

1.12.2005
Well, I'm sure we all know by now the outcome of the MacWorld Expo this year in San Fransisco. But, I'll review for you anyway.

  1. Steve Jobs placed Apple on track once again for a release of Tiger in the first half of this year.
  2. iLife gets updated in '05 edition ($79, available Jan. 22nd). These updated include the following:
  3. iWork ($79, available Jan. 22nd) is the successor to AppleWorks, says Steve Jobs. It includes Keynote 2 and Pages, and new word processor that uses a lot more graphics than Word.
  4. New Stripped Mac, for only $499? Meet the MacMini. For only $499 you get a 1.25GHz, slot loading CD-RW/DVD-ROM, 256MB, 36MB of video memory, 40 GB harddrive, built in 10/100 networking, 2 USB 2.0 and 1 FireWire 400 port along with a DVI and VGA adapter. For $100 more ($599) you get an upgraded processor (1.42Ghz) and a bigger harddrive (80GB).
  5. iPod for only $99? Yes, sir! For only $99 you get the iPod shuffle. It holds 240 songs (4 min/song @ 128Kpbs ACC encoding). For $50 more ($149) you get twice the memory (1GB). I weighs less thatn car keys or 4 quaters and is smaller than a pack of gum. In a world were the iPod controls over 60% of the market share, this flash-based iPod is supposed to directly compete with the mainstream market share left.
  6. iTunes update: 230 million songs have been sold via the iTunes Music Store to date. Jobs estimates that at its current run rate, Apple will sell 1.25 billion songs per year. That makes up a 70 percent share of the online music market.
  7. iPod update: For the holiday quarter 2004, Apple sold more than 4.5 million iPods. That compares to 733,000 iPods during the same quarter a year. A 500 percent year-over-year growth. That means Apple has sold more than 10 million iPods to date -- 8.2 million of them were sold in 2004.
  8. iPod your Car update: Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Volvo and Scion will be introducing iPod adapters for their factory-installed auto stereos in 2005. Alfa Romeo and Ferrari will be doing so as well.
  9. Apple Store Update: 3 years ago -- first store opened. Today, 101 stores. Over 1 million people hosted each week, enough to fill 10 MacWorld's a week,
You can watch the broadcast here. Be patient though, the servers are slow.
MiniMac pics, all of them.
iPod shuffle pics, every last one.

CES Coverage, Keynote Speeces and Apple Sued

CES... the biggest gadget fair in the world is going on in Las Vegas this week.

For Coverage of the big CES, check out Kevin Rose's blog. He will be updating with exclusive pictures and coverage. Also, check out Endgadget. They have some pretty good stuff, too.

They've got a pretty good lineup of Keynote speeches. Here's a list. You can watch Bill's, if you missed it here. Oh, and during his speech, he got the Blue Screen of Death!

In latest tech news, someone is sueing Apple for antitrust violations with their "monopoly" with their iPod and iTunes. Supposedly, it breaks the law because iTunes is only compatible with iPod. Link.

Microsoft's anti-spyware beta released today. A product of their acquisition of Giant software. From news.com.com.

MSTechTV.... Confirmed!?!?

1.05.2005
Well, you heard it from the horse's mouth. Microsoft is officially buying TechTV from Comcast! The release date is set for somewhere around May 28th (you know what day that is!). Straight from an anonymous PR exec at the big MS... read on!!!

via the techtified: (also on Joey's site)

When I asked him about programming he said a few shows were already being created. A 2 hour daily tech call-in, help, tip and geek show. In other words, this is the TSS show we've been wanting back. Other shows for the line up will be a daily tech news show, a gaming show (weekly) and a gadget show. The MSTECHTV site will also serve as a great supplement to the network. When I asked the PR exec about talent, he said "I already think I risked a lot by confirming the rumor, but if I had to tell you, you will know a lot of the talent." So I guess seeing Leo Laporte, Patrick Norton, Alex Albrecht, Dan Huard, and Yoshi on MSTECHTV is possible.

MacExpo "Hundreds of New Products" and a New Apple CPU

1.04.2005
The MacObserver as reported that:
IDG World Expo has issued a press release trumpeting that "hundreds of new products are expected to debut at next week's event."
I guess among these will be a flash-based iPod, a sub-$500 iMac and alot of talk about Tiger.

MacNewsWorld
reports that a new CPU developed by IBM will allow 2 different OS to run at the same time, thanks to partitioning. This technology is used in IBM's blade servers. We should see this in Apple Computers and Servers on the account that they all use the same technology.

Xbox 2, AMD's New Chip, Private Contributions for Tsunami Relief, Halo 2.5, and Les Miles

1.03.2005
Alex Albrecht, former host of The ScreenSavers on G4/TechTV, has reveled some definite specs. Including a flash-based harddrive and built-in DVD playback. He also states that there will be s live demo at E3 this year! And, the release date will be set at this year's E3! Check it out!

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) introduced the Alchemy Au1200 processor, with the company claiming the chip will "forge a new era of portable multimedia".

AMD said the low-power, high-performance, system-on-chip solution was designed to provide living-room quality video entertainment for consumers on the go. It said that the processor has been optimized for personal media players (PMPs) and enables a new generation of conveniences and features, including scalable DVD-quality displays, video content transfers directly from digital video recorders, and long-lasting battery life. TechTree.com
Microsoft will donate $2 Million in immediate corporate funds and another projected $1.5 million from matching employee contributions. Others like Amazon ($3.5 Million) and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation ($3 Million) and Cisco and Computer Associates have helped with the overwhelming impact of the tsunami's on Dec. 26th in Southeast Asia.

Top 10 Microsoft milestones for 2005. Actually, pretty good.

AHHH!!! Halo 2.5! I can't wait. More feature (bots or system link co-op?), expanded story line, and HDTV resolution will all be added! Sweet... First title on Xbox 2. Bam! TeamXbox and GameShout.

I was going to try to talk about Apple but, all the talk about Apple is their sub-$500 PC that is speculated to be announced at this years Mac Expo. I'm not too excited. But the iPod users who all seem to be switching to Macs will be since most are only worried about price.

LSU GETS A NEW HEAD COACH!!! Yes, I can't wait to see wait Les can do!

Les Miles Announced as 32nd Head Coach of the Tigers

The New Year...

1.02.2005
Besides the disappointment of LSU losing in the last six seconds of the Cotton Bowl and that Nick Saban left LSU for the Miami Dolphins, my New Year's weekend was pretty good.

So now for resolutions:

  1. Start swimming again for (at least) 3 days a week
  2. Lose 5 lbs (I'm only 145)
  3. Save for a new computer (I'm not sure which to buy, a PowerMAC, PowerBook, or Windows based Laptop; which do ya'll think? Comment away!)
  4. Stronger, more Consistent walk with the Lord
  5. Pass the A+ Certification
Well... hopefully these won't wash down the drain with the past resolutions, I hope I can keep them.

Looks like this is going to be a year to remember...

Happy New Year!!

1.01.2005
Wow... this past year has been amazing. From all the things I've learned, experiences past, etc.

Hope this one is even better...

Celebrate the New Year by helping with the Asian Tsunami Relief... it's sad, latest reports are over 118,000 dead, and the death toll is still growing. With the short supply of clean water and shelter, disease is rapidly spreading therefore, death is also.

Besides...

From Mine to Yours, hope you has a Merry Christmas and Have a Happy New Year!
